Sean’s New Zombie Short ‘This One’s For All The Sausage’ Available For Pre-Order

Being a zombie fan isn’t all that interesting these days. It’s certainly not original.

But it’s still true. I love zombie stories. Well, good zombie stories.

World War Z remains one of my favorite books of all time (let us never speak of the movie again…). The Walking Dead was a hate-watching experience for a long time for me (Herschel’s Farm…good God…) but even I have to admit they’ve hit a stride recently. And although I’m a purist when it comes to the speed at which I like my zombies to move, I have equal appreciation for George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead and Zack Snyder’s remake.

TOFATS

I suppose it was only a matter of time before I decided to give it a go myself.

I write about sports a lot. Specifically, college football. And it occurred to me that I haven’t really seen too many zombie stories that take place in the world of sports. Specifically, college football.

That’s where the idea for This One’s For All The Sausage came from. What would it look like if a zombie outbreak occurred during a pivotal moment in a college football game?

I like zombie stories because they’re always about something else. The good ones are, at least. Zombie are such a malleable metaphor, they can stand in, or, lumber in, for just about whatever you want them to. In the case of this story, I suppose they become a manifestation of all my frustrations surrounding the sport I love most.

If you know me from Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician or my book How To Grow An Orange, you’ll be pleased to know the story takes place in the Carrier Dome during an imaginary bowl game. Syracuse fans have always wondered what it might look like for Syracuse, NY to host a bowl game. I don’t know if they imagined undead corpses being involved (unless Rutgers was playing, I suppose).

If the name is confusing, well, that’s okay for now. But for a frame of reference, I’ll direct you to Brent Musburger, lover of all thing Tostitos.

The short is currently in pre-order on Amazon and will be published on December 16, just in time for the college football bowl season and right around the time when a game like this would probably be played. The story will be available as an e-book, however it is that you read them. I hope you like it.

I’ll share some more details as we get closer but in the meantime if you can share this on Twitter & Facebook as well as with anyone you think might be interested, that would be amazing and appreciated.
